arthouse b+b is a very unusual building,
it rises high above the surrounding
houses making it a detached property
above the ground floor. It has a tower
quality to it and this means that there
are three floors, fantastic views and
many stairs to climb!
At one time 24 London Road was a fire
station, with horse drawn fire vehicles
housed in a barn through the archway at
the back. It then became a pickle
factory, and more recently a removals
firm.
In 2000 John and Anna were looking for a
studio in the City of Canterbury and
came across this building which fitted
the bill.
A purpose built studio was finished in
2006 and turned into John and Anna’s
house in 2007.
The accommodation is of course unusual,
the hall is long and thin and very high,
the living area- on the first floor- is
open plan and has double aspect, with
views to the city from the front and to
the university at the back. Two bedrooms
on the second floor, the front bedroom
has amazing views, and the back bedroom
too.
Each bedroom has a private bathroom.
Outside, as well as private parking
there is a courtyard walled garden.
